The all-virtual sixth governing council meeting of the CII – Tata Communications Centre for Digital Transformation (CDT) was held on 23rd April 2020, on CII online platform. The meeting was presided by the Chair – Mr. Sumeet Walia, Chief Sales, and Marketing Officer – Tata Communications; Co-Chair – Mr. Vijay Thadani, Vice Chairman and Managing Director – NIIT Limited, and Mr. Rudramuni B, Vice President and R&D Head India – Dell Technologies.
The members of the governing council were brief on the immediate need for certain strategies and procedures to assist the Indian industry in lifting up from the current COVID 19 crises through the help of digital technologies. The bench of CDT chairs outlined the role of the center is playing a vital role in building systems of intelligence and bringing best practices from industry on the table to help enterprises, especially MSMEs to learn and grow their business via digital route.
The online council meeting saw large participation from members across industry domains and experts including authors and DX practitioners to provide their valuable input and guidance on the various interventions of CDT. The members were apprised on the various activities of the Centre and their progress. Mr. Venkatadri KR – Chair, Sub-Committee on DXcel and Chief Digital and Innovation Officer at Tata Chemicals, provided the 360-degree view of CDT Digital Transformation Excellence Model (DXcel), which was followed with the activities taken up on Cyber Security by Mr. Sridhar S, VP & India Head for Cloud, and Managed Security Services at Tata Communications
Mr. Venkatadri addressed the next steps in the assessment process after the survey would be rolled out about the assessment of the company and provision of the final set of recommendations, whereas Mr. Sridhar presented the Cyber-Security post-COVID 19 advisory & FAQs document that would serve as a ready reckoner for organizations that are looking to secure their data even as employees continue to work remotely when the lockdown gradually eases out.
